Underground Resistance featuring Saul Williams

When it comes to the origins of techno, things don’t get more legendary than Underground Resistance. Formed in 1989 by Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, the past nearly four (!) decades have seen the Detroit collective – which constantly evolves in membership – define and continue to redefine techno as a Black, anti-commercial space for radical independence and self-determination. UR’s sound has always been gritty, mechanical, stripped-down and uncompromising – but also brimming with heartwarming groove and hypnotic, layered messaging. To this day, UR paves the way for generations of artists in Detroit and around the world. At Dekmantel Festival ’26, they will perform a special live set with the great poet/vocalist Saul Williams. Make your transition.
