Ash Lauryn
Caught between two worlds, Ash Lauryn strikes a balance between old-school sensibilities and digital suaveness, leveraging her skills as a DJ, writer, curator, and radio host to champion Black dance music. Her infatuation with the rave scene began in her native Detroit, but it was after relocating to Atlanta that she found inspiration to start DJing, drawing influence from the legendary Kai Alce of NDATL and Vicki Powell. Her blog, Underground and Black, has now grown into a wide-ranging platform covering her annual Movement Festival party, a monthly NTS show, and a podcast of the same name. Through these channels, she expresses her deep love for the historical roots of house and techno, showcasing their significance as tools for reclamation in modern-day America.
