Akua

Techno has been refined and reclaimed in the last few years. For Ghanaian-American artist Akua, that means a deep dedication to bringing forth narratives about the genre’s history: its rebellious and cathartic founding values, its Black origins and lineage, and its recontextualization for contemporary audiences. All this plays out in Akua’s blazing sets, as heard during late-night hours in her NYC hometown, on endless Monday mornings at Berghain, and in the idyllic surroundings of the Amsterdamse Bos.
